If anyone recently picked up a newspaper or turned on to see the news, he may wonder what is happening in our schools and begin to think whether our schools are still safer places for children. Recent school shootings have set feared in many parents about their children’s safety in our schools. This raised some important question. What causes these school shootings? Whom should we blame for this? What are some possible solutions of this?  These questions will leads to the fact that we must need a strong system in schools to take away the threats of school shootings from our schools.

Since the times have been changed our kids also undergoes some noticeable changes in their life styles compared to those students in 70’s and 80’s. As a result of the technological revolution kids have an easy access to the world around him. Whatever kids watch in the form of movies, video games or whatever has a lot of things, which is capable for making a kid more violent in nature. Most of the children’s favorite television shows like “cops” show a lot of violent actions that shows how criminals and police deals guns. This may inject curiosity about guns in children. Our Kids’ interest in video games again also has a lot to do with. We can see that, like television shows children’s most favorites games are those which give them points for killing bad guys.  The popularity of the game “Streets of L.A” is a well known example for this. This violent games and television shows may make our kids to think more about guns and the way they can own and use it. These violent games may also make children to believe that   guns are the only ways for self protection.

Another major difference in our children is that they start to use guns in very small age, while they do not know what guns really cause. A shocking fact about this shootings that were happened recently, in most case after a gun shot, those who did this says he or she brought the gun to school just to show his or her peers and what they done is just an accident. We have to think honestly from where these children get guns. Most of the times, answer of these leads to the carelessness of parents. Most of the time children get this fatal weapon from their parent’s drawer fully loaded. Even though, they know guns only kills, most of the times they did not understand the consequences of a gun shootings

Next we have to think about what are some possible solutions of this curse. We can not stop the technological revolution that is happening allover the world. Only thing that we can do is teaching our kids regardless of their age, the real hazards of handling a gun. Making them ignore about guns never helps to reduce the gun death in schools and out side. We must make sure that they know the aftermath of a shooting. Our school system must spend enough time to show tapes and other things about major school shootings such as Columbine School shooting to both kids and their parents. This will explain them to understand what really happened and what are the effects of this action to the victims of gun violence’s. Along with this we must also keep all guns unloaded and in a place that children can not reach it easily. Parents must also beware about the fact; even though we remove the magazine from a gun, still there is a bullet in the gun.

According to essay “Guns History (U.S.) Right to Bear Arms: America's Fascination with Firearms” by David B. Kopel, 83-96% or nearly 100% Americans own a gun. It is not easier to take away all these guns from America only because of this problem; even though it is really a serious problem. Best advice to kids to reduce these gun deaths is from NRA. It says that if a kid saw a gun, he or she must not touch it. Leave the room, and call an adult who knows how to deal with it. Today’s youth is tomorrow’s strength; we have to keep that in our mind.
